Building Canada's Urban Music Infrastructure
Saturday, June 10 from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
Q&A with Sol Guy (Direct Current Media)
Moderated by Aisha Wickham (UMAC Executive Director)

Despite the fact that Urban music is the most popular music of today's youth generation, the growth of Canada's Urban music industry has been stunted by a lack of consistent infrastructure to support the exposure, marketing and distribution of Canadian Urban music.

Come meet one of Canada's most successful artist managers/producers/broadcasters/industry executives who has been a maverick of R&B and Hip Hop and find out how he broke through the hurdles and managed to make things happen in a country that doesn't have an Urban music infrastructure like the U.S.

Understanding Radio Tracking and Music Charting
Saturday, June 10 from 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm
Presenters:
Paul Tuch (Director of Canadian Operations, Nielsen BDS)
Pamela Kirton (Manager of Client Relations, Nielsen SoundScan)

In this interactive presentation, representatives from Nielsen Entertainment/SoundScan will break down the key details you need to know about radio tracking and music charting. Learn how to register, and track, songs on radio and video, and get some inside tips on how the SoundScan system can help with the development of your music career (even if you don't have your record in major retail outlets). Also, hear directly from the pros on how music charting works.
